Her full name was Rachel Hodyes. She was born on July 4th in 1924 in Paris, in France and she died on April 27th in 2020 in Broadway, in New York City. She was ninety-six years old.and her life was amazing !
She had straight brown hair and green eyes. She was tall, funny, very pretty and cute. She had an extraordinary life because she was a talented actress and an amazing ballet and contemporary dancer. She was also the creator of a new type of dance, « the cool dance ». She was extremely popular.
She lived in France when she was achild. When she was five years old, she put on a beautiful dance show and at ten she acted in a lot of plays. Her hidden passion was singing. When she was twenty-one years old, she decided to move to New-York in the USA, the city where everything is possible. So, she improved her English and she began her professional career in Broadway in 1946. When she failed in 1948 because she didn’t believe in herself, her family and her friends were there for her.
In 1948 she met love. It was during a dance workshop. Her dancing partner taught her new techniques. His name was Finn Smith and he became her husband in 1949. They had three children, two daughters and one son. Their names are Charlie, Meg and Justin.
In 1951 she didn’t want to follow her professional career because she was tired and she wanted to enjoy her family. So, with her husband and their children they travelled a lot to discover the world. And, one year later, they founded their association to teach dance to all children.
When she turned thirty years old, her husband told her to go back on stage because she was extremely talented and it had always been her greatest dream. Finally, she put on a lot of shows with Finn, her love for ever.
She enjoyed every moment of her life because her motto was : « Life is too short, you have to enjoy every moment », that’s why she lived very long because her mental health was superb and she didn’t doubt herself. She was a star.
